How to Protect Your Converse

As we usher in a new season, we all know that the weather can add a little bit of wear and tear to your kicks. As the saying goes, prevention is better than Cure and our Crep Protect Spray works miracles to protect your sneakers through all the elements this winter season.

How to protect your Converse

In this Back 2 Basics tutorial, we put our rain and stain barrier to the test as we show you the best way to protect your Converse shoes.

Before we show you all the tricks of the trade, let’s answer some of our most frequently asked questions about our Crep Protect Spray!

How long does it take for Crep Protect Spray to dry?

Our Crep Protect Spray takes up to 10 minutes to dry per each layer that is applied to your sneakers. We recommend applying two layers of our Protective Spray to your sneakers, so overall it should be only 20 minutes of drying time.

If my sneakers are dirty, would I have to clean them before applying the Protective Spray?

Yes, we recommend that your sneakers are clean before application. For the best results, use our Crep Protect Cure solution to remove any dirt, grime, and stains.

Does the Spray protect canvas shoes?

Yes, our Crep Protect Spray creates a hydrophobic barrier of a range of materials including canvas, suede, leather, vinyl, nylon, and many more.

How often should you spray your shoes?

If you wear your sneakers every day, we recommend re-applying the Protective Spray every 2 weeks.

Preparation:

1. Before applying the Crep Protect Spray to your sneakers, shake the can well. It is important to shake the can as this will allow all the elements to combine so that the repellant can form within the can, and effectively protect your sneakers against any rain and stains.

Shake Well

Applying the Spray:

2. Once the can has been shaken, hold the can from a 20cm distance from your Converse, hold down the nozzle, and start to apply the spray to your sneakers in a continuous motion. Start with the toe cap and mudguards then move towards the sides, heel, and midsole. Allow 10 minutes for the first layer to dry.

Spray from a 20cm distance

Top tip: Make sure that you spray an even layer of the repellant on your Converse to avoid oversaturation.

Do not oversaturate

Add a Second Coat:

1. Once the first layer is dry, apply a second layer of the Crep Protect Spray, following the instructions from step 2. The second layer will also need 10 minutes of drying time.

2. Now that your sneakers are all dry, you can now step into those days of drizzle with confidence.
