Nike is celebrating the Air Max 95’s 30th anniversary in style and with a twist no one saw coming.

Teaming up with the legendary Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, the sportswear giant has reimagined Sergio Lozano’s iconic runner through the lens of Joey Wheeler’s (Katsuya Jonouchi’s) underdog spirit.
Introduction:
The collaboration draws directly from the Yu-Gi-Oh! community, channelling Joey’s journey from scrappy contender to fearless champion. The collection encourages self-confidence, teamwork, and a healthy competitive edge, values that resonate both on the track and in the card arena.
At the heart of the release is the Yu-Gi-Oh! x Nike Air Max 95 ‘Muscle', inspired by the fictional Air Muscle sneakers Joey wears in the anime.

Staying true to Lozano’s anatomical design, wavy side panels representing muscle fibres, rib-inspired lacing, and a spine-like polyurethane midsole, the ‘Muscle' elevates the silhouette with co-branded logos, Max Air cushioning in the forefoot and heel, and a traction-ready waffle outsole. The result? A sneaker as battle-ready as Joey himself.

The global ‘Joey’ colourway stays loyal to the shades of blue seen in the series, accented with panelling, lace loops, and scratch mark detailing that nod to Joey’s in-universe kicks. A hidden lateral Air unit, a Yu-Gi-Oh! logo on the outsole, and a friendship-inspired sock liner featuring Joey and his Red-Eyes Black Dragon make this pair a true collector’s dream.

Meanwhile, the Japan-exclusive ‘Jonouchi’ colourway takes a greyscale approach, paying tribute to Yu-Gi-Oh!’s manga origins. Both styles come in exclusive packaging and include custom, playable Nike x Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Cards, the first-ever official TCG cards co-created with a brand.
