We’ve finally entered the final lap of Spring, which means we're rearing and ready to go for the summer season.
Besides the beaming sun, we know that there’s plenty of heat for your feet along the way, so we thought we would give you a little rundown of some of the many sneaker drops coming your way this May.
Buckle up sneakerheads as we whittle it down to just 5 of the cleanest releases that we think should belong in your sneaker rotation - but we’ll let you be the judge of that.
1. NOCTA x Nike Hot Step 2 ‘White’
Drake is making sure we step right in ‘White’
Release Date: May 9th 2024
Crep Protect Cleaning Recommendations: Cure, FoamX, Spray
Now if you're a culture vulture, you’ll know that Champagne Papi (AKA Drake) has been the subject of many diss tracks as of recent, and as well as serving a platter of his own rhythmic slaughts, we have to remember that there is more heat just around the corner. Unfortunately for some, we ain’t talking about K.Dot, but the all-new NOCTA x Nike Hot Step 2 release is just days away and this one is worlds apart from its ‘Total Orange’ variant, adopting a rather laid-back ‘white’ colour scheme.
Synthetic leather houses the uppers for a clean feel, while contoured wave panels add that extra textural element throughout. Breathable mesh dresses the sidewalls, the branded Nocta tongue, and mini metallic swooshes are inscribed on the lower quarters and mudguards for a nostalgic feel. Groundwork-wise, the outsole is bedded with G-Trek traction, for optimal grip throughout wear.
2. Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG ‘Canary Low’
Release Date: May 17th 2024
Crep Cleaning Recommendations: Cure, Spray, Starter Pack
Think of a better sneaker collaborative duo - I’ll wait
Throughout the years, the Travis Scott and Jordan duo has become the bread-and-butter collaboration for any sneaker enthusiast and it seems that even in 2024 this shows no signs of waning. Last month we saw La Flame unveil his latest creation - the Jordan Jumpman Jack and this month he dips his feet in shallow waters with yet another AJ1 low collaboration and let’s be honest we’re not mad about it.
This women-exclusive rendition is flooded with colour and details that hark back to Travis’ good ‘ole days at Elkin’s High Knights. Landing in a crisp white leather base, intercepted by titular hues of yellow that deliver a vibrant and summer-apt feel to this low rise. Reverse Swooshing pops in a lively blue, laying across the sidewalls for that extra dose of heritage, while Cactus Jack branding offers a branded completion to the tongue, sides and heel.
3. Air Jordan 11 Retro Low ‘Space Jam’
Release Date: 18th May 2024
Crep Cleaning Recommendations: Wipes, Spray, Cure
All OG ‘Space Jam’ 11 fans are punching the air right now
Ever since its inception on our courts and cinema screens, the Air Jordan 11 ‘Space Jam’ has been nothing less than sneaker gold. Fast forward from its Looney Tunes and ‘95 playoff heydays, this silhouette has now returned to its glory, keeping the legacy alight with its signature glossy patented design, that exudes both court and lifestyle charm.
Touches of nylon enshrine the upper quarters, and Jordan branding is emblazoned across the tongue - as a nod to its Beaverton roots. The fit’s entirety sits on an icy blue translucent outsole to deliver court-induced traction with every step.
4. Nike Cortez ‘Forrest Gump’
Release Date: 8th May 2024
Crep Cleaning Recommendations: Spray, Starter Pack, Guards
Run sneakerheads run - you won’t want to miss out on this one
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ‘94 blockbuster film, Forrest Gump, Nike has searched far and wide into its archives to reimagine the signature Nike Cortez. Birthed as the first-ever track shoe to be invented by Nike, the Cortez has quite an iconography behind it, making its first-ever debut at the 1972 Munich Olympics to then landing in the laps of a stream of brand ambassadors and collaborators throughout its tenure, it’s now reverted to its roots to deliver you a re-up of one of its OG colourways.
Keeping things traditional, the Nike Cortez arrives in a simple clean leather upper, decorated with pops of red decorating the Swoosh branding and Nike emblazoned heel. Small touches of blue detail a smaller portion of the midsole, while below the rubber outsole ensures a steady grip on your strolls.
5. Nike SB Dunk Low x Futura Laboratories ‘Bleached Aqua’
Release Date: 10th May 2024
Crep Cleaning Recommendations: Cure, Spray, Wipes
Die-hard dunk fans, this one is for you
Behold the Futura Laboratories x Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Bleached Aqua,’ a sneaker that skaters and sneakerheads will fight over like it's the last slice of pizza. This treasure sports a white mesh base for breathability, perfect for those summer skate sessions, while its canvas overlays showcase custom ‘Bleached Aqua’ graffiti art by the legendary Futura. His signature scribbles are found on the lateral heel, tongue tag, and insole, and a stunning ‘Geode Teal’ Swoosh swishes its way across the sidewalls.
But it's not just a pretty face: nestled within is a bouncy Zoom Air midsole, ensuring you're comfy while cruising. This shoe is a testament to the creative collabs between Futura and Nike that started in the early 2000s, so don’t miss your chance to cop a pair (or two).
