The moment Vince Carter had earned his stripes
For this Throwline Thursday, we look back at one of the most iconic Slam dunkers of all time, the one and only Vince Carter. Sporting 7 illustrious seasons at the Toronto Raptors, to becoming one of the longest-serving NBA basketball players to have ever graced the hardwoods, it’s only right that we celebrate this legend in the game.
This image that took us earned Vince his ‘Vinsanity’ nickname. It was February 12th, 2000 in Oakland California, the commencing of a moment that would be etched into the NBA history books. This year Carter was introduced to his first-ever NBA slam dunk contest, one in which he competed against his cousin and former Raptors star Tracy McGrady.
With the free throw line in full reach, Carter pulled off one of the most iconic 360 windmill jams in basketball history. This astonishing dunk play landed him an almost perfect score of 49/50 in the slam dunk contest, leading Carter to a well-deserved victory.
